SCOPE:  Responsible for clinical services activities in 12-14 ASCs; serve as a key member of the Operations Team;  assume leadership for strategically planning and executing world-class operations and excellent patient care.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.  Provide Clinical Services

  • Develop and implement corporate and clinical services policies and procedures at the center level.
  • Maintain current knowledge of federal and state regulations and standards of accrediting organizations (Joint Commission) pertaining to ambulatory surgery centers.
  • Monitor, audit and evaluate the quality of the clinical services provided at assigned ASCs by conducting on-site assessments.
  • Responsible for all clinical aspects of assigned ASC's performance.
  • Address physician partner concerns and problems relating to clinical services.

2.      Continually add value to partners

  • Understand the partners, the practice and the market in sufficient depth to bring value to partners by participating in the centers' business planning processes.
  • Provide leadership and direction to center directors
  • Represent clinical services at Board Meetings with partnerships.
  • Demonstrate an ability to consider alternatives.

3.      Establish strong partner relationships

  • Actively work to maintain and improve relationships with the most challenging physician partners.
  • Communicate often, meet in person outside Board meetings, query satisfaction levels and work closely with all partners (not just board members) exchanging ideas and planning for the future.
  • Make our partners feel that we are an extension of their thinking.
  • Be viewed by the partners as a business asset and resource (not only for the ASC but practice and other ventures).
  • Get to the point where they respect your opinion.

4.      Provide center with analysis of supply, drug, and variable expense cost.

  • Determining alternate vendors or products with potential center impact
  • Provide comparison data for center benchmarking with other similar centers
  • Provide Center Director training
  • Provide assistance with Performance Improvement activities
  • Provide additional resources for clinical issues
  • Incident reporting
  • Graphical analysis
  • Benchmarking

5.      Hire, train, develop and manage the performance of all center directors assigned to each ASC.

Requirements:

  • 5 or more years experience in Operating Room required, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center setting.
  • Must have an RN degree from an accredited school and hold current licensure as an RN.
  • Orthopedic experience required.
  • Must be able to travel up to 70%.
  • Demonstrated ability to bring exceptional business acumen as well as creativity to the operations and management of healthcare facilities
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a strong member of a highly motivated and integrated management team.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain a successful operating infrastructure in a service oriented setting that sustains a company through growth

  • Strong written and oral communications skills
